Faith PR

This morning my roommate and I ventured over to Marsh Chapel at Boston University for church. I have been attending church every Sunday my entire life, but unfortunately I got lazy when I came to school. I finally decided to attend, and the service was beautiful (not to mention the chapel is gorgeous). Thinking about Martin Luther King Jr. attending that same church back in the day added a special touch as well.

That's all and well, but what really struck me was this: the service was from 11-12. By 4:30, we had a friend request sitting in our Facebook inboxes from the University Chaplain for Community Life with a message saying it was great to see us at Marsh. Talk about great outreach. This is something many other churches lack, and they're hurting for it. Certain churches have fallen into places where newcomers feel unwelcome. Or the sermons seem like one monotone group of blahs because people can't connect to them. Actually, overall they just plain suffer from lack of attendance. I loved what the Chaplain did. I already planned on going back, but that helped sway me even more.

Now I just have to hope it's not a sin to talk about PR in relation to the church. ;-)

Did you have to sign in or something...or did the divine powers of God send him your name?
